I am well over 20 years of age and an American citizen. My girlfriend is Nepali, living in Nepal and attending university and is 19 years of age. On the first glorious day that is proper for us to marry is 30 June 2025, in which my girlfriend’s age will still be 19 years and 8 months old. My initial reading of Nepal marriage law is that both parties must be 20 years old without any exceptions. However, your very informative website seems to indicate that there there is an exception. If one of the wedding party is below the age of 20 years old but is 18 years old, parental consent, if given, will permit the marriage to be allowed. – did I read all of that correctly? Basically bring my girlfriend’s parents with us to provide onsite consent, since she will be 4 months under the age of 20. Otherwise, hold off Until November or December or later wedding date.
